Hi all, about time for a progress report, I think. ![]()
I had been quietly shadowing the changes in the Firefox 3 betas since around February this year and although the required changes were somewhat complex (mainly because I wished to retain the original FF2 look of my themes) the job progressed well and by May, all were 95% complete, with the single exception of Aluminium Kai 2, which is around 65% complete. In fact, things were so well in hand, I found time to do a quick new native style theme for Firefox 3 - Metal Lion Andromeda, as an experiment for some new techniques.
The original plan was to then incorporate any final Firefox 3 changes and bring out all the Metal Lion theme updates for Firefox 3, a month after the official release (17th June).
However, pressing personal matters intervened and I was 'out of action' themewise for the whole of July and August. As you can all appreciate, things like that take total priority.
So, the new schedule. Well, the key template theme is now completely finished and the required changes have all been carefully documented and will soon now be rippled through the rest. In addition, a new version of ML Andromeda is ready, which gives multi row tabs when using TMP. So, all slowly getting back on track.
Yes, the delay may well be quite tiresome for some of you, but nowhere near as damn tiresome as the responsibilities of real life can be from time to time. Still, all back to normal now. ![]()
I'm sure that many of you have experienced similar. To those who have not - you will.
All the best,
Frank

Metal Lion - Andromeda. version 1.6.3
Firefox Compatibility - 3.0b3 - 3.0pre

This is a 'native' theme for Firefox 3, named after a figure in Greek mythology and based on the FF3 default theme. By native, I mean that it has no backgrounds of its own and will show whatever Operating System theme that you are using at the time. It also, unusually for me, has a small compact icon set as well.
Here is how it differs, code-wise, from the Firefox 3 beta default theme:
1. Searchbar History by default.
2. Sidebar opens to 800 pixels or down to a genuine 0 pixel width.
3. Urlbar tidied up to display correctly when using a Windows Classic theme.
4. Go button on urlbar is shown by default.
5. Active tab close button is coloured.
6. Tab strip and tabs coded differently for a better effect.
Made in hours, rather than days, it passed the time while I was listening to yet more plays on the radio. Essentially, I heavily reworked an old set of icons that date back to 2002 - 3, which I thought still had something to offer. Enough talk? OK, but first.....at the moment, this is on Addons, haha, and in the Sandbox. This means, it needs reviews to ever get out into the Public section. So, if you like it, then please leave a review. If you don't, then use something else and scrub any review
..... right, on with the pics, I think ...
